Nanotechnology industry consults on standards for nomenclature and disposal

The UK Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) is consulting its members on two publicly available specification (PAS) documents on terminology for carbon nanostructures, and the disposal of nano-objects.
The PAS on terminology for carbon nanostructures includes basic definitions in use by manufacturers, suppliers, academia, regulators and governments regarding such materials, and also comments on their current use. Comments on this document are invited by 13 January 2012.
The PAS on the disposal of nano-objects contains recommendations and good practice guidance on the safe disposal of manufacturing process waste containing nanomaterials. Comments on this document should be received by 25 January 2012.
The documents were commissioned by the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (UK BIS) and their development was facilitated by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
